UnicxS-Trans PEOPLE FOR THE SOCIAL INCLUSION

This Project is aimed at protecting the rights of Trans people (women, men and other identities within the trans spectrum) in Peru and at responding to situations of violence. This Project is led locally by Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, Red Trans Perú (Peruvian Trans Network) and Sociedad Trans FTM Perú (Peruvian FTM Trans Society), and by Harvard University and Fenway Institute in the USA.

Offer legal representation and case follow-up for transgender people.

Developing multi-sectorial collaborations (health care system, police and local security forces, justice ombudsman, justice system, community-based organizations, NGO's) to promote the work against violence and ensure the rights of trans people in Peru.

Formalize pathways and interagency network to report incidents of violence against trans people.

Advocate for legislation and public policy changes to ensure respect for the human rights of Trans people in Peru.

DOCUMENTATION

Documenting of human rights violations through an observatory, managed by UPCH since 2012, which is being potentiated among trans people and strengthened with legal assistance.

ADVOCACY

Advocacy with public officials (helth, security, justice, education, social development) for the inclusion of trans people in the development of public policies and the respect of fundamental rights

Design, adaptation and validation of a community program for trans men and women who have survived violence.

Training of public officials for the provision of services to trans people.
